Hanging house in Malta

This modern family house built on a particularly compact place is situated in Naksar, Malta. Called “Hanging House”, designed by young local architect Chris Briffa, who is not worried by the challenge, as he believes that architecture is “not so much the amount as a percentage, and the choice of material.

The entrance to the house is via a metal staircase that leads to the hall with even higher stairs to the living room and kitchen. Separate dining area has, on one side black glass, and the other – beautiful figurines. Under this premise has quietly 12 – meter swimming pool, and there is room for a garden in which to enjoy it. Wonderful plan for space saving! Both bedrooms and bathrooms are more modest windows gives a feeling of personal space for privacy.

Low energy methods of cooling and heating are used when necessary, as well as underfloor heating systems based on a mix of ventilation and water. Space above the main staircase provides redistribution of air and acts as a cooling tower. The garden is planted with olive trees, which completes this thoughtful design that is the result of a high degree of mutual trust between the architect and the client.
